For all the people who are happy with a little bitterness in their lives, behold the radicchio! A member of the chicory family, radicchio has distinctive pink-red leaves with white veins. Its firm, cup-shaped leaves have a strongly bitter taste (though not quite as bitter as chicory).
Although common in bagged salads, it is hard to find this as a whole head in shops. I love it in salads, especially with blood oranges and hazelnuts, but it is also great pan fried with bacon or spicy sausages or roasted as a side. So pleased to find it for sale here, especially at this price.
Pleased to hear you were happy to find it here! What awesome ways to use it!
