These were delicious grilled with some grated raw mooli radish and a touch of soy sauce - an easy Japanese recipe for any oily fish. The mackerel had just the right amount of saltiness.
n.b. you need to grate the radish really fine, using a parmesan grater if possible, so the radish becomes fluffy
