Poseidon's favourite breakfast.
A real treat. Thoroughly enjoyed them.
My dad called me Kipper as a kid and introduced me to the delights of the humble kipper at an early age. Time passed and frozen offerings took the place of fresh. A moment of nostalgia prompted swift order when I saw these for sale on Delifresh and I am so pleased that I did. These kippers are a delight to eat and so easy to cook. I filled a large frying pan with water and let it boil, then simply took off heat and let the kippers poach gently for around 5 and a half minutes. I turned them over half way through. I am not a skin lover, but found it peeled away very easily with this method and the flesh of the fish just melted in mouth. Care has been taken removing bones and that is apparent but as with all kippers there are a very fine few. Enough for two and I will order these again especially for my dad, who is now 86!! And still loves a kipper
I bought these for my husband as I am a vegetarian. He thoroughly enjoyed them, said they were very flavoursome and better than he had had in a long time. The flavour was good and he could taste quite easily that these had been traditionally smoked and not coloured as so many are nowadays. Ending with an empty plate and a request for more, so I will, without doubt be making further orders. In summing up these are highly recommended by a fussy foody.
These kippers just blew everything that went before them away. They taste of the actual fish with a strong yet subtle smokiness. The low bone count also shows the attention to detail in producing these divine breakfast treats.
A couple of slices of the chilli black pudding crisped up and a poached egg made all stacked up me a very happy bunny.
Delicious lunch time treat
