Chervil, sometimes called French parsley or garden chervil, is a delicate annual herb related to parsley. It is commonly used to season mild-flavoured dishes and is a constituent of the French herb mixture fines herbes.

It was such a lovely surprise to find this herb available, and in such abundance. I chopped a really generous helping adding some of the basil, roughly tomatoes, garlic (from the string I reviewed earlier), lemon juice, olive oil stirred into pasta with some parmesan - wow, a fast fresh and fragrant dish. Chervil is a bit like parsley but with an edge of aniseed, it's complex and just something a bit different from the usual.
Hmmm, I wonder if there will ever be some lovage. :-)
