Kumquats – sometimes called Chinese oranges – are the smallest and weirdest of the common citrus fruit. In contrast to other fruit from this group, the skin and zest are sweet, while the juicy insides are tart with a hint of bitterness. A winter treat, kumquats can be eaten whole, just as they are (you'll either love them or loathe them) or cooked with sugar, spices or spirits to make sweet compôtes and aromatic chutneys.
Sold in a 250g pack.
I have never tried this fruit before, not something you see in your average supermarket, and I was pleasantly surprised. As advertised they are sweet on the outside and tart on the inside. A nice refreshing change.
The order arrived when it was supposed to, and communication with mydelifresh was good. Adding to the already booked Christmas order wasn't intuitive but I did get it to work.
The quinces I'd ordered weren't in the end available :( and I was refunded. The kumquats were okay though not the highest quality - on the other hand I was delighted to find any at all! The rest of the delivery looks good. The rhubarb was particularly lovely - forced, blush pink, and is halfway through being turned into Nigella's rhubarb ice cream.
Great news, thank you! We tried to keep this as simple as we could but we understand it isn't the easiest of processes :( Sorry to hear the quince wasn't available and the kumquats weren't amazing as they should be :( Pleased to hear the rest looked great! Sounds like a great idea, we hope you have a lovely christmas!
Love to nibble on these at different times in the day.
Pleased to hear you love them Pat!
I adore this fruit as it reminds me of my life in Zimbabwe and the abundance of this fruit available there and pleased I can now purchase same here.
That's lovely to hear that these bring you fond memories! Glad you could get them from us!
Very pleased to get kumquats as they are not readily available in supermarkets. Sweet and sharp at the same time, I love them.
Really pleased to hear that you enjoyed them and were happy to find them on the site, they're a lovely little treat!
